Where the Business of Triathlon Gets Done

AUSTIN, TX – August 17, 2017 - Triathlon Business International (TBI) announced that its 8th Annual Business Conference will be held Friday through Sunday, January 26-28, 2018 with activities, meetings and workshops held at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel & Resort, which serves as the host hotel and is adjacent to the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.

This is the conference where the business of triathlon gets done.  Attendees include swim-bike-run industry leaders within the sport and business of triathlon.  TBI president Dan Empfield has a list of imperatives for the 2018 conference, which include: affordability; content that benefits the small businessperson; and three curriculum tracks geared to coaches, retailers and race directors.

"My imperatives for our next conference are very clear,” said Empfield. “Besides affordability and a robust curriculum, I wanted a fun downtown area in a sunbelt area; no rental car needed; loaner bikes waiting for attendees who need a bike; early morning swim, bike and run sessions for those who want to get the day started right; and an experience that sends you home full, ambitious and energized. I’m jazzed and I look forward to the opportunity to shake your hand in Tempe."

Tempe is a vibrant college town in the heart of metro Phoenix.  The TBI conference is a perfect fit for Tempe, a city that hosts Ironman 70.3 and Ironman Arizona annually. In November 2017, Tempe will host the 2017 Triathlon Collegiate National Championship for the third time, and ASU is home to the reigning national NCAA triathlon champions.

Tempe is a first class destination with 330 days of sunshine a year, a climate ideal for training and entertainment districts such as Downtown Tempe and Tempe Marketplace. Tempe has numerous sports facilities and assets such as Tempe Town Lake, Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, 175 miles of bike pathways and hiking trails in Papago Park.

Registration for the 2018 TBI Conference will open on Active Network before the end of August, and information about the conference will be posted on TBI’s website and on its Facebook page.

Room reservations at the Tempe Mission Palms are now open for the conference. TBI has a room block for the conference dates at a $179/night rate, which is a 40% discount off the published weekend rate. This room block is limited and attendees are encouraged to reserve their rooms as soon as possible to avoid missing the opportunity. Room reservations. Conference registration opens at 9AM Friday morning and outdoor activities are also planned for the morning. Thursday night reservations are available at this rate on a very limited basis.
