Mission Statement:

Our mission is to leverage the knowledge, talent, and resources of industry leaders in triathlon to the benefit of the sport. The mission will be achieved by increasing and retaining advocates of triathlon and by fostering a positive image of the sport.

History:

Triathlon Business International has been founded by a coalition of industry leaders who saw the need for the triathlon business community to come together in an organization dedicated to promoting the sport and the business of triathlon.

Initially named Triathlon America at the launch in 2010, the organization's name changed to Triathlon Business International in 2012 to reflect the increasingly global growth of the sport and industry members.

TBI has held an annual conference in San Diego, California, the past three years, and the event is considered to be one of the premiere networking events in the industry. Conference attendees include top executives from triathlon companies and governing bodies, and the conference has three days of informative panels, speakers, and networking events. In September 2013 TBI will launch its first Global Conference in London, and global industry leaders will meet in the days leading up to the ITU World Championships.

In 2012 TBI hosted the inaugural Triathlon Pavilion neighborhood at the Interbike show in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year the Triathlon Pavilion will double in size at the Interbike show, and is on pace to sell out the area once again.

Triathlon Business International also has a relationship with the ITU. ITU President Marisol Casado has spoken at a TBI conference, and TBI hosted a luncheon at the 2012 ITU event in San Diego. At the 2012 London Olympic Games TBI hosted the ITU Olympic Triathlon Reception following the men’s triathlon race, as well as co-hosting a separate reception that week with Active, blueseventy, and Challenger World.

Triathlon Business International supports the industry through other endeavors, including a recent relationship with Philadelphia Insurance and Heffernan Insurance Brokers to provide expanded event coverage. TBI is also focused on growing its membership and the value that it provides them.
