To win a medal at the men’s Olympic triathlon Tuesday, it took a band of brothers, not all of them related. Alistair Brownlee, the prohibitive favorite, delivered Britain its 19th gold medal of these Games with an 11-second victory over Javier Gómez of Spain. Brownlee’s younger brother, Jonathan, was 31 seconds back, in third.

At the 25th ITU Congress in Auckland, Marisol Casado of Spain has been re-elected as President of the International Triathlon Union (ITU), earning another four-year term. Loreen Barnett of Canada has also won another 4-year term after being re-elected as Secretary General of ITU, ensuring that ITU remains the only International Federation in the Olympic Games with women at the top two leadership roles.

Coming off a successful series of events, Triathlon Business International (TBI) is forging ahead in its growth as the global coalition of industry leaders dedicated to promoting the sport and business of triathlon. Most recently, TBI partnered with Interbike for the first dedicated Triathlon Pavilion at their global bicycle trade show, featuring vendors and standing room only seminars by triathlon industry leaders.
